WHAT'S NEW AT THE INSTITUTE

*         Institute Releases Developing Early Literacy Report

The Institute today released Developing Early Literacy: Report of the National Early Literacy Panel during a morning news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The National Early Literacy Panel's (NELP) report will serve as the basis of research recommendations to the early childhood community - educators, caregivers, Head Start providers, and parents - on promoting the foundational skills of life-long literacy.

Deputy Secretary Raymond Simon of the U.S. Department of Education extended congratulations to the Institute and joined Dr. Timothy Shanahan, chair of the NELP, in announcing the report's release.
