Dear List Members:

The National Institute for Literacy Partnership for Reading Publications
Web page has a couple of resources that are of interest to adult
education instructors. One is entitled Applying Research in Reading
Instruction for Adults: First Steps for Teachers. The author says the
book "aims first to build background knowledge about reading and
scientifically based reading instruction." The book is full of student
and classroom illustrations and sample instructional activities.

The second publication is entitled Teaching Adults to Read. This
booklet "describes strategies proven to work by the most rigorous
scientific research available on the teaching of reading." It summarizes
the trends and principles identified in the 2002 publication
Research-Based Principles for Adult Basic Education Reading Instruction.

Both publications may be viewed and may be downloaded from:

Subscribers can also order copies. (Note: Applying Research in Reading
Instruction for Adults is currently only available online.)
