Hi Janet, It's great to hear from you! I hope it's not too late to address your question. The National Literacy Summit 2 was publicized primarily through ProLiteracy. I could not attend the webcast and I had asked that they alert me when it is archived, hence my message below. It is my understanding that the National Literacy Summit 2 addressed research-based practices in literacy across the lifespan, so the targeted audience is a mix of literacy professionals from early childhood to adult education and literacy. Included in the webcast was the release of a matrix that looks at literacy outcomes, appropriate instruments for measuring the outcomes, and effective research-based practices and strategies for helping programs and practitioners use research in strengthening literacy across the lifespan. Given that, I thought others would be interested in exploring this resource further. I'm certainly interested in anything that may indeed help others to understand and judge research, and I hope others on this list will share their questions or critiques of this instrument: http://literacynetwork.verizon.org/fileadmin/download/13741_verizon_matr ix.pdf Here's the link to the webcast: http://literacynetwork.verizon.org/ (and click on the National Literacy Summit weblink in the lower lefthand corner). I'm interested in your thoughts on this. Or, (looking at the names of presenters/speakers and seeing few adult ed folks) maybe this was the not-necessarily adult literacy summit? thanks for letting us know about it. Was anyone here able to attend? feedback?
